Obituary of Martin Qualantone

Martin Qualantone Jr. passed away quietly in his sleep in Chandler AZ on November 6th, 2022. He was 90 years old.
Marty was born on 07/01/1932 to Martin Qualantone Sr. and Sophie Pacinella, he grew up in Fair Lawn, NJ and graduated from Fair Lawn HS in 1951.
In 1952 Marty enlisted in the Navy, and re-enlisted in the Marines in 1956, where he served as Hospital Corpsman in both branches of the military.
Before attending college Marty was employed by Bamburger & Co in the decorating and display department, a job he truly enjoyed.
In 1959 Marty graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Ill. He then went on to attend The American Academy in NYC where he also took classes in Mortuary Science. He went on to take his State Boards in October of 1959, and became a Licensed Funeral Director for 35 years.
Marty worked at The Abbey Funeral Home in NYC, New Hyde Park Funeral Home and
Walter B. Cooke at their multiple locations throughout the five boroughs, until he retired in 1995.
Marty met and married his wife of 51yrs, Barbara Welker in 1963. In 1968 their only child was born, Debbie, and in 1970 they purchased a home in Ozone Park, NY. This is where they spent their entire married life. Barbara passed away in 2014, and Marty moved out to Buckeye, AZ in 2016 to be close to his daughter Debbie and granddaughters, Amanda and Kaitlyn.
Marty made a nice life for himself in AZ, enjoying the retirement community, and the weather, he had quite the social life. He was able to see both of his granddaughters, Amanda and Kaitlyn grow into young women, be apart of their weddings, see his great-granddaughter Kathryn born, and see Amanda as a Mom. He was there for every birthday and holiday celebration, and especially enjoyed family Sundays.
Marty is survived by his daughter, Debbie Murray, son in law James Murray, granddaughter Kaitlyn Murray and husband Bryan Trevizo, granddaughter Amanda Arnold, husband Shane Arnold, and great-granddaughter Kathryn Arnold.
Marty was always known for his kindness and generosity, he was always there when I needed him. He worked hard and gave my Mom and I a good life.
Marty will make his final journey home to Queens where funeral services will be held at Glascott Funeral Home November 13th and 14th, he will be laid to rest with his wife Barbara and both of their parents at Pinelawn Cemetery on November 15th, 2022.
Marty will then be “On the other side of the grass, where Barbara is waiting for me”…the words that he repeated every day since Mom passed away.
